A highly gifted musician, 14-year old Kevin Loh started learning the classical guitar from his father when he was 5. That same year, Kevin gave his first solo guitar performance; and at age 9 became the youngest principal ensemble player with the Toa Payoh Guitar Club Niibori Guitar Orchestra under the baton of Mr. Alex Abisheganaden, a Cultural Medallion Winner.
Kevin went on to attain his Grade 8 in classical guitar from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) at age 11, the youngest-ever to achieve this in Singapore. In 2010, Kevin was talent scouted by the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin School in United Kingdom. His talent led to a quick acceptance to the school’s classical guitar programme, making him the 6th classical guitar student in the school’s history and the first from outside
of Europe.
Beyond his musical achievements, Kevin is also passionate about community work and has performed in numerous charity events, the most recent being the ChildAid 2010 concert, and at the Closing Ceremony of the inaugural Singapore Youth Olympic Games.
..In 2010, Kevin was presented the prestigious HSBC Youth Excellence Award for Musical Excellence, making him the first to receive this award for the classical guitar. In Feb 2011, Kevin gave his debut concert at the Esplanade Concert Hall making him the first-ever Singaporean guitarist to do so.
